     Rahr White Wheat Malt  8 oz

     Belgium Special B     8 oz

     Briess Victory     8 oz

     English Crystal 77L     8 oz


Hops: 2.5 Sunnycroft

     Dark Malt Extract 6 lbs

     Briess Sparkling Amber 10* Levibond 1 lbs

Fresh Hops Brown Ale 2022

 We grow the hops, so we have to brew the beer.  Back again this year by popular acclaim is our all Suunycroft Farm hops Fresh Hop Brown.  Despite a very dry summer the hop harvest was robust, 28 oz.


Malts:

     Munich Malt Extract 6 lbs

     Briess Sparkling Amber DME 1lb


Specialty Grains:

     Briess Chocolate Malt 8.7 oz

     Belgian Special B 9 oz

     Briess Victory 8 oz

     English Crystal Malt 77L


Hops:

     60 min 4 oz

     10 min 4 oz

     Flame out for 20 min 4 oz

Yeast:

     Safale  S05

Fruit Bazooka NE IPA

Recipe from Northern Brewer, ingredients purchased locally

1 lb flaked oats (steeped for 30 min.)

6.6. lbs Pilsen LME
1 lb wheat DME (last 15 minutes)
2 lbs Pilsen light DME (last 15 minutes)

1 oz Azacco (at flameout)
1 oz Ekuanot (at flameout)
1 oz Citra (at flameout)
1 oz Mosaic (at flameout)

1 oz Ekuanot @12.5% AA (1st dry hop, 7/30/2021)
1 oz Mosaic @ 12% AA (1st dry hop, 7/30/2021)

1 oz Ekuanot @12.5% AA (2nd dry hop, 8/4/2021)
1 oz Citra (2nd dry hop, 8/4/2021)

Fresh Hops Brown 2021

 Harvest this year was 11 oz dried.  I decided to use all the hops this year because the hops I saved from the harvest last year are still in the freezer.  This recipe is almost the same as past years.

Malts:

     Munich Malt syrup      6 lbs

     Bries  Sparkling Amber DME 10*      1 lbs

Specialty Grains:

     Briess Chocolate Mslt  8 oz

     Belgian Special B    8 oz

     Briess Victory   8 oz

     English Medium Crystal

Hops;

     60 min  4 oz

     10 min 4 oz

     flame out for 20 minutes   3 oz

Yeast:

     Safale US 05

Extract kit from Northern Brewers

I added the yeast too early in the cool down and killed it.   Because I didn't have a backup yeast packet I added bread yeast.  The final product was very drinkable. and didn't have any off flavors.  The tasting notes in the packet listed toast as a flavor, so maybe that taste, to those who could  sense it, was enhanced.

Fresh Hop Brown 2020

 Although 2020 summer was very hot and dry (record hottest summer ever and drought conditions in September), or maybe because of, the harvest was robust at 11 oz.  A review of past hop harvest show the record at 15 oz in 2011 and next highest 12 in 2010.  Still 11 is a very goog harvest and way above recent years.

Base Malts

     Munich Malt Extract Syrup                                6.30 pounds

     Spray Dry Malt Extract:  Plain Amber Color 8  1 pound


Specialty Grains

     Briess Chocolate            8 oz

     Belgian Special B           8 oz

     Briess Victory                 8 oz

     English Medium Crystal 8 oz


Hops  (all Sunnycroft fresh picked)

     4 oz     60 min

     2 oz     10 min

     2 oz      flame out for 20 min


Yeast: Safale S-05
