Fresh Hop Brown 2020

 Although 2020 summer was very hot and dry (record hottest summer ever and drought conditions in September), or maybe because of, the harvest was robust at 11 oz.  A review of past hop harvest show the record at 15 oz in 2011 and next highest 12 in 2010.  Still 11 is a very goog harvest and way above recent years.

Base Malts

     Munich Malt Extract Syrup                                6.30 pounds

     Spray Dry Malt Extract:  Plain Amber Color 8  1 pound


Specialty Grains

     Briess Chocolate            8 oz

     Belgian Special B           8 oz

     Briess Victory                 8 oz

     English Medium Crystal 8 oz


Hops  (all Sunnycroft fresh picked)

     4 oz     60 min

     2 oz     10 min

     2 oz      flame out for 20 min


Yeast: Safale S-05

Dead Ringer IPA

Dead Ringer IPA, a malt extract recipe from Northern Brewer, is a knock off of Two Hearted Ale brewed by Bell's  Brewery in Kalamazoo and Comstock Michigan.  It was originally called three heart but Bell' forced a name change.

Malt Extract:
     9.5 # Gold malt extract

Specialty Grains:
     1#  Carmel 40

Hops:
     Centennial  11.5%  1  60 min
     Centennial              1  20
     Centennial              2    5
     Centennial                1  2nd

Yeast Safale US-05

Brewed 3/15  OG 1054
Secondary 3/29    1020

Citra Lager

Another malt extract Recipe.  We love Citra.

Grains: steeped about 15 minutes, until 170*
     Briess Victory                                8 oz
     English Medium Crystal                8 oz

Malt Extract:
     Maris Otter                                    6 lbs
     Muntons Light Dry Malt Extract  1 lb

Hops:
     Cascade 7.6%                      2 oz at 60 min
     Simcoe  12.9%                    1 oz at 30 min
     Citra  12.6%                        1 oz at flame out for 15 min
     Citra                                    2 oz secondary

Yeast:
     Saflager w-34/70

Brewed 1/10/2020,  OG 1050
              1/24/2020, secondary, SG 1014  2 oz cirta added
